The sister of bandleader Russ Carlyle, vocalist Louise Carlyle took over her brother's orchestra when he entered the service in 1943, leading it until his discharge. She appeared on several radio programs in the late 1940s. In the 1950s she appeared in the Broadway musical Of Thee I Sing and was featured on the studio cast albums of several stage productions.
