Vocalist Edith Caldwell worked with Ted Black before being hired by Orville Knapp in 1934. She married Knapp arranger and novochord player Chick Floyd, and when George Olsen took over Knapp's orchestra after the bandleader's death she followed her husband and vocalist Leighton Noble in forming a new orchestra under Noble's name. In 1940 Noble and Floyd split. Caldwell followed her husband but soon lost her singing voice. The couple divorced in 1942.
